Leader lauds and glorifies Imam Khomeini on International Quds Day

Al-Quds day was declared by Iran’s revolutionary Islamic leader Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 as a day when the entire world is to turn their attentions to the plight of the Palestinian people. The event falls on the last Friday of Ramadan, which will this year work to energize the already inspired Palestinian people to take a greater stand over the attacks on al-Quds.

In accordance with Imam Khomeini's instructions, the day is considered an opportunity to reflect the voice of the voiceless Palestinians, who are living under the oppression of the Zionist regime.

International Quds Day is seen as the legacy of the late Imam Khomeini, who is revered as a spiritual leader by Muslims across the world. Back in 1979, shortly after leading an Islamic revolution which toppled the US-backed Shah of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini named the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan as Quds Day.
